Dunlap cattle sales reportThe Dunlap Livestock Auction, Dunlap, Iowa, reported receipts of 2,171 head Jan. 11, compared to 2,552 head last year, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa. This was a special preconditioned cattle sale. There was good demand. The bearish grain report and limit up grain trade had feeder steers and heifers trading $1 to $2 lower, stocker calves traded steady. Receipts included 61% feeder cattle over 600 pounds, 47% feeder heifers and 53% feeder steers. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 24 head, 424 lbs., 124.50; 454 to 498 lbs., 125.00 to 125.50 (125.39); 504 to 549 lbs., 116.75 to 123.00 (119.49); 551 to 596 lbs., 110.75 to 116.25 (113.87); 625 to 645 lbs., 105.00 to 110.75 (108.37) calves; 651 to 694 lbs., 97.40 to 100.50 (99.58) calves; 701 to 739 lbs., 95.00 to 98.00 (96.76) calves; 750 to 768 lbs., 95.00 to 96.00 (95.56) calves; 800 to 827 lbs., 93.25 to 96.70 (94.73) calves; 47 head, 908 lbs., 94.00 calves; 48 head, 965 lbs., 94.10 calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 12 head, 438 to 439 lbs., 114.00 to 115.00 (114.50); 11 head, 510 to 515 lbs., 108.50 to 112.00 (110.42); 18 head, 553 to 560 lbs., 109.00 to 110.00 (109.50); 616 to 631 lbs., 95.50 to 102.00 (98.92) calves.
