Dodge City cattle sales report

Receipts at Dodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., reported receipts of 4,574 head Jan. 9, compared to 3,261 head last week and 4,493 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with Dec. 19th, 2007 sale, steers and heifers 350 to 700 pounds were $3 to $4 lower. Steers and heifers 700 to 900 pounds were $2 to $5 lower, instances $6 lower. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady to $2 lower. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 74% over 600 pounds, 20% under 600 pounds and 6% slaughter cows and bulls with 264 early. The feeder supply consisted of 62% steers and 38% heifers.
