Colorado feeder cattle reportThe Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 12,290 head Jan. 11, compared to 885 head last week and 11,550 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers had no price comparison following last week's very light test. Demand was moderate to good for feeder steers, with best demand for weights of 700 pounds, and light to moderate for feeder heifers. The combination of higher corn values and heavy supplies allowed for buyers to be more selective. Feeder heifers experienced the heaviest discounts as the week progressed. The supply was made up of 40% feeder steers, the balance was feeder heifers, with about 56% of the total supply over 600 pounds.
