2007 cotton quality updateThe following is a summary of the cotton classed at the Lubbock and Lamesa U.S. Department of Agriculture Cotton Division Cotton Classing Offices for the 2007 production season, as reported by Plains Cotton Growers, Inc., Lubbock, Texas. For the week ending Dec. 6, the Lamesa office classed a total of 87,588 bales, with color grades average 21+, leaf grades of 2.45, and staples of 36.25. Average micronaire was 4.18, with a strength of 30.20, uniformity of 80.94, and 6 percent bark. For the same week, the Lubbock office classed a total of 319,439 bales, with color grades averaging 21+, leaf grades of 2.40, and staples of 36.08. Average micronaire was 4.01, with a strength of 29.78, uniformity of 80.59 and 1.1 percent bark. The Lamesa office has classed a total of 549,385 bales and the Lubbock office has classed a total of 1,832,862 bales for the 2007 cotton season. 1/21/08 Date: 1/17/08
