Watertown livestock salesThe South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 1,400 head Jan. 9, compared to 1,050 head last week, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. No trend due to no sales during holidays, but weaker trends for feeder steers and feeder heifers. Feeder steers made up 40% of the run, feeder heifers made up 60% of the sale, with 76% over 600 pounds made up 76% of the run. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 547 to 549 lbs., 111.50 to 113.50 (112.81); 50 head, 520 lbs., 123.50 fancy; 614 to 638 lbs., 109.50 to 110.90 (110.67) calves; 42 head, 682 lbs., 104.40 calves; 16 head, 730 lbs., 100.00 calves; 762 to 770 lbs., 97.25 to 101.75 (100.24) calves; 854 to 891 lbs., 90.75 to 94.30 (92.23). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 15 head, 469 to 473 lbs., 110.00 to 115.00 (113.66); 7 head, 575 to 593 lbs., 102.50 to 103.00 (102.79); 624 to 642 lbs., 102.50 to 104.25 (103.25) calves; 650 to 693 lbs., 99.50 to 102.50 (101.67) calves; 16 head, 701 to 719 lbs., 90.00 to 92.25 (90.83) calves; 809 to 841 lbs., 87.25 to 91.75 (90.40).
