Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 1,128 head Jan. 3, compared to 2,152 head last week and 1,745 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to two weeks ago, steers at 300 to 900 pounds were steady in an extremely light supply. Heifers at 300 to 950 pounds were steady to weak in an extremely light supply. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Receipts included 57% 600 pounds and over, 31% 600 pounds and under, 12% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 60% steers and 40% heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 320 lbs., 114.00; 16 head, 376 lbs., 120.50; 10 head, 447 lbs., 121.00; 44 head, 496 lbs., 122.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 112.50 to 115.00 (113.40); 12 head, 562 lbs., 112.00; 35 head, 642 lbs., 108.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 106.00 to 109.00 (107.01); 32 head, 740 lbs., 98.85; 30 head, 797 lbs., 101.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 101.75 to 103.00 (102.27); 124 head, 854 lbs., 100.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 800 to 850 lbs., 97.50 to 97.75 (97.65). Medium and large frame 2, 6 head, 686 lbs., 94.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 15 head, 312 lbs., 112.00; 26 head, 429 lbs., 109.00; 56 head, 499 lbs., 107.00; 12 head, 526 lbs., 106.00; 39 head, 599 lbs., 95.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 93.50 to 94.00 (93.57); 16 head, 731 lbs., 92.50; 30 head, 766 lbs., 95.25; 58 head, 902 lbs., 91.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 head, 699 lbs., 88.00.

Baby calves: Per head, 1 head, 150.00.

Feeder cows and heiferettes: 14 head, 70.00 to 86.00 (81.50).

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 51.00 to 53.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 42.00 to 47.00; high dressing, 48.00 to 50.00; low dressing, 35.00 to 41.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 52.50 to 56.50 (55.10).
