High Plains slaughter news

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Jan. 6, totaled 211,148 head, compared to 162,886 head last week and 94,417 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 3,517 head, 1,260 to 1,500 lbs., 91.00 to 95.00 (92.78); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,748 head, 1,240 to 1,400 lbs., 92.00 to 95.00 (93.65); 35 to 65% Choice, 41,626 head, 1,150 to 1,450 lbs., 91.00 to 95.50 (94.73); 0 to 35% Choice, 1,627 head, 1,275 to 1,460 lbs., 93.00 to 95.00 (94.54). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 1,781 head, 775 to 930 lbs., 147.00 to 152.00 (151.21); 65 to 80% Choice, 19,544 head, 750 to 945 lbs., 147.00 to 152.00 (150.13); 35 to 65% Choice, 35,087 head, 651 to 945 lbs., 144.00 to 153.00 (150.93).
