Grain bids all lowerGrain and soybean bids were all lower on Jan. 7, according to the National Grain Market Summary. Wheat was sharply lower on fear of fund liquidation for this week had the market sharply lower. Corn was slightly lower on sharply lower wheat and weakness in the soybeans and a sharp break in the crude oil market. Soybeans traded lower due to the lower energy markets and higher dollar. Improved weather for soybeans in Argentina also was a factor pressuring beans. Wheat was mostly 29 to 30 cents lower. Corn was mostly a cent lower. Soybeans closed mostly 12 to 16 cents lower. Grains inspected for export for week ending Jan. 3: Wheat totaled 17.7 million bushels, down 6.0 million bushels; corn 31.3 million bushels, down 8.6 million bushels; sorghum 9.6 million bushels, up 4.8 million bushels and soybeans 24.8 million bushels, down 800 thousand bushels compared to a week ago. Year to date: Wheat totaled 802.4 million bushels up 300.3 million; corn 852.7 million bushels million up 92.3 million; sorghum 124.2 million bushels up 69.3 million and soybeans 463.6 million bushels down 51.3 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and Sept. 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans. In the futures close, Kansas City March wheat was $9.15 3/4, down 30 cents. Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $8.86, down 30 cents; Minneapolis, $10.83 1/4, down 30 cents; Portland, $13 to $13.30, unchanged; St. Louis, $8.33, down 29 cents. Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $4.51, down 1 cent; Minneapolis, $4.27 1/4, down 1/2 cent; southern Iowa, $4.28 1/4 to $4.33 1/4, down 1/2 to 1 1/2 cents; Omaha, $4.47 to $4.48, down 1 cent. Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $11.60, down 14 cents; no bids; southern Iowa, $11.71 1/4 to $11.76 3/4, down 12 3/4 to 13 1/4 cents; central Illinois processors, $11.99 3/4 to $12.12 3/4, down 12 3/4 cents. Kansas City wheat prices Jan. 8, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $9.06 1/4 to $9.74 1/4, down 4 1/2 cents; 12% protein, $9.63 1/4 to $9.97 1/4, down 4 1/2 cents; 13% protein, $9.97 1/4 to $10.40 1/4, down 4 1/2 cents; 14% protein, $10.30 1/4 to $10.45 1/4, down 4 1/2 cents.
