Ericson livestock sales reportThe Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 3,400 head Jan. 5, compared to 3,200 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb. No recent feeder cattle sale to establish an adequate trend, however, a steady undertone was noted from the previous sale of three weeks ago. Cattle quality was average to good. Demand and prices were weak at the outset of the sale, but rallied as the sale progressed. Receipts consisted of 61% steers and 39% heifers, 51% over 600 pounds.
