Dalhart cattle sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 883 head Jan. 3, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

No comparison was available due to holiday closings. Trade was active. Demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 325- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 90% and slaughter cows and bulls 10%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 68% of the run, heifers 32%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 43%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 packages 318 to 390 lbs., 137.00 to 168.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 133.00 to 137.00, package 472 lbs., 123.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 118.00, load 533 lbs., 123.50, 2 packages 583 to 598 lbs., 105.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.00 to 108.00, calves 102.50 to 105.00; load 743 lbs., 104.35, package 785 lbs., 101.00; lot 850 lbs., 101.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 353 lbs., 135.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 119.00, package 400 lbs., 123.00; package 574 lbs., 103.00; few 700 to 800 lbs., 97.50 to 99.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 3 packages 325 to 330 lbs., 117.00 to 128.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 114.00 to 115.50, 450 to 500 lbs., 105.50 to 106.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 101.00 to 107.00, 550 to 600 lbs., 94.00 to 98.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 97.50 to 98.00, calves 90.50 to 94.00; load 741 lbs., 96.25, 2 packages 790 to 795 lbs., 90.50 to 91.00; package 855 lbs., 90.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1600 to 1700 lbs., 48.50 to 49.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 47.50 to 50.50.

Dairy slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1600 to 1800 lbs., 46.50 to 50.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1500 to 1700 lbs., 47.50 to 49.00.
