Calving workshop Jan. 14

Colorado

Colorado State University Extension will be holding a calving workshop in Burlington at 10 a.m., (Mountain Time), Jan. 14. The program will be held at the Community Education Center, 340 S. 14th Street (just to the north of Old Town).

Dr. Robert Mortimer, DVM with the CSU Veterinary Medical Center, will be talking about calf delivery and managing dystocia problems; while Dr. Roger Ellis, CSU Extension Veterinarian, is going to visit about the calf's neonatal care and herd health. Area Livestock Extension Agent Michael Fisher will also include a section on nutrition.

There will be a $10 charge to cover lunch, which will be served during the meeting. You are asked to contact the Yuma County Extension Office at 970-332-4151 and pre-register so that a meal count can be planned.

K-State Extension will be hosting a similar meeting with Dr. Mortimer in St. Francis, Kan., at 5:30 p.m., (Central Time) Jan. 14. For information on the evening session contact the Cheyenne County Extension office 785-332-3171.
