CFB to host Young Farmer and Rancher conference

Colorado

Colorado Farm Bureau will host the Annual Young Farmer and Rancher Conference, Jan. 25 to 27. The event will be held at the Inn of the Rio Grande in Alamosa. The event is open to anyone age 18 to 35.

"The YF&R Conference is an opportunity for young farmers and ranchers to gather and discuss issues that are important to rural families in Colorado, gain leadership skills and find out about the Farm Bureau organization" said Nathan Weathers, Colorado Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Chairman.

Highlights of the conference will include tours of Rakhra Mushroom Farm, Faucett Fish Farm and Colorado State University Extention's potato research facility. Additionally workshops focused on educational sessions geared toward young farmers and ranchers, will be held throughout the conference. Attendees will have a chance to win products from Grainger.

Conference room rates are $63.95 plus tax. Hotel reservations can be made by calling 1-800-669-1658. Many county Farm Bureaus are willing to assist their local young farmers and ranchers with expenses for attending this conference; more information is available by contacting Dana Thompson, Colorado Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Coordinator.

Registration for the conference is $40 for adults and $20 for children 6 to 12. You do not need to be a Farm Bureau member to attend. Contact Dana Thompson, Colorado Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Coordinator at 970-227-1783 or dthompson@colofb.com to register for the conference. The deadline for registration is Jan. 11.
