53rd annual Kansas Angus Futurity set Jan. 25 to 27 in Hutchinson

Thirty-five Kansas Angus breeders have consigned outstanding registered Angus genetics from the top of their herds to the 53rd Annual Kansas Angus Breeders Futurity Show and Sale in Hutchinson, Kan., on the Kansas State Fairgrounds.

Three unique herd picks, service age bulls, fancy show heifer prospects, bred heifers, open replacement females, cow/calf pairs and exciting flush and pregnancy offerings will highlight this premier event for Angus and beef producers on Jan. 25 to 27. Producers looking for top quality Angus genetics won't want to miss this sale. Bulls and females selling with both the commercial and registered producer in mind will be offered in the auction sale.

Activities will begin Jan. 25 at 12:30 p.m., with a presentation by Mark McCully, supply development director for Certified Angus Beef, LLC followed by the Kansas Angus Association annual meeting. A social and banquet will conclude the first day's events. During the banquet, the Kansas Angus Association will induct the 2007 honorary member, crown a new Miss Kansas Angus and hold a benefit auction for the junior scholarship program.

On Jan. 26 the sale cattle show will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the sale is set for 1:30 p.m. Cattle for the junior show will be checked in from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and the KJAA will meet at 6 p.m.

The junior show will start at 10 a.m., Jan. 27. A junior judging contest will run concurrently with the junior show. Contest registration begins at 9 a.m. All junior Angus, 4-H and FFA youth are invited to participate in the contest.
