Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Jan. 26, totaled 3,475 head, compared to 7,200 head last week and 8,050 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, light offerings of feeder cattle were not comparable. Demand was moderate to good. Direct trading was very slow with few comparable steers unevenly steady to $2 lower. Demand was moderate. Buyer inquiry was light to moderate on light offerings. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 65% of the supply, heifers 35%, with 67% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1835 head of the total receipts.
