Tulsa livestock sales reportThe Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 1,733 head Jan. 28, compared to 1,700 head last week and 3,385 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, stocker steers and heifers were $3 to $5 higher. Few feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $3 higher, heifers were mostly $2 higher. Weigh-ups were mostly average. Demand was very good on better cattle with good attendance of buyers. Receipts included 39% steers, 45% heifers, 17% bulls, with 34% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were $2 higher. Packer demand very good on lean cows. A total of 227 cows and bulls sold with 56% going to packers.
