Tulia livestock market reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,729 head Jan. 28, compared to 1,170 head last week and 1,107 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $3 lower. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were not tested. Trade and demand were moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 95% and slaughter cows and bulls 5% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 51% of the run, heifers 49%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 72%.
