Salina cattle auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,770 head, compared to 3,025 head last week and 4,025 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers at 300 to 650 pounds were $4 to $6 higher, except those weighing 500 to 550 pounds and thin were $8 to $10 higher, and 650 to 1000 pounds were $2 to $4 higher. Heifers few 500 to 550 pounds were $6 to $8 higher, the bulk of the trade 300 to 950 pounds were $1 to $3 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were not tested. Trade was active, demand was good. Receipts include 83% 600 pounds and over, 17% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 63% steers and 37% heifers.
