OKC West livestock sales report

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 4,318 head Jan. 30, compared to 1,801 head last week and 2,572 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $2 higher, most advance on 7 weights. Feeder heifers were $2 to $3 higher than last week's light test. Demand was moderate to good for feeder cattle. Stocker steers and heifers were $3 to $5 higher than last week's light test. Demand was very good for grazing cattle. Feeder cattle were in slightly thin to fleshy conditions. Stocker cattle in thin to medium flesh conditions. Weigh-ups were average to full, few gaunt. The supply included 82% over 600 pounds, 12% under 600 pounds, 6% cows and bulls. The total included 40% heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $3 higher. Demand was very good for cows as numbers of packer cows remain light in many areas. A total of 267 cows and bulls sold with 64% going to packers. Several bulls off one ranch included.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 118.00 to 122.00; 575 to 600 lbs., 111.00 to 112.00; 625 to 675 lbs., 103.00 to 105.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 96.75 to 99.00; few 800 to 825 lbs., 95.00; lot 950 lbs., 90.00. Medium and large frame 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 118.00 to 123.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 107.00 to 110.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 106.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 94.25 to 100.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 92.50 to 94.50; 945 lbs., 90.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 425 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 113.00; 500 to 515 lbs., 110.00 to 112.00; 525 to 600 lbs., 96.00 to 106.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 92.00 to 96.50, fleshy 90.00 to 92.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 91.00 to 96.25; few 800 to 875 lbs., 85.00 to 88.50; package 915 lbs., 85.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 525 lbs., 101.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 90.00 to 94.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 87.00 to 91.00; lot 815 lbs., 88.50. Medium and large frame 2, 400 to 425 lbs., 100.00 to 106.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 90.00 to 95.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 89.50 to 90.00; 885 lbs., 87.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 7 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1175 to 1850 lbs., 50.50 to 54.00; high dressing, 53.50 to 56.00. Boners, 16 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1150 to 1675 lbs., 51.00 to 53.25; high dressing, 53.00 to 57.00; low dressing, 44.75 to 47.00. Lean, 16 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1225 lbs., 47.50 to 51.00; high dressing, 53.00 to 54.00; low dressing, 44.50 to 46.50. Lights, 42 head, 75 to 90% lean, 900 to 1000 lbs., 48.00 to 49.50; low dressing, 45.50 to 46.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 109 head, 1350 to 2250 lbs., 64.00 to 66.50; high dressing, 69.50; low dressing, 58.50 to 63.00; very low 53.50 to 55.00.
