Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 189 head Jan. 24, compared to 152 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, trends were not applicable because the sale was not reported. Receipts were comprised of about 67% feeder lambs, 33% slaughter ewes with the balance miscellaneous sheep and goats. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 17 head, 166 lbs., 28.50. Utility 1 to 2, 20 head, 160 lbs., 27.00. Cull 1, 9 head, 136 lbs., 18.25. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 head, 74 lbs., 113.75; 83 to 85 lbs., 109.50 to 110.00 (109.87); 21 head, 102 lbs., 104.50; 7 head, 116 lbs., 86.50. 2/4/08 Date: 1/31/08
