National Limousin sale averages nearly $12,500The National Limousin Sale was Jan. 14 in the Beef Palace Auction Arena at the National Western Complex in Denver, Colo. The sale grossed $290,480--averaging $12,491 on 30 lots. Class averages were as follows: one purebred semen package--$26,250; one and a half purebred bulls--$10,167; two Lim-Flex bulls--$34,150; one bred purebred female--$7,500; six open purebred females--$11,992; half of a bred Lim-Flex female--$20,000; six and a half open Lim-Flex females--$7,600; four planned matings--$22,400; and five embryo packages--$9,430. The top seller was the People's Choice champion Lim-Flex bull. Magness Land and Cattle, Platteville, Colo., and Fuller Investments LLC, Nashville, Tenn., consigned MAGS Scotland--a May 10, 2006, son of BR Midland out of MAGS Marquee. Thirteen 5-percent ownerships sold for $55,000 total. Rounding out the top five sellers were the following. --The People's Choice champion Limousin female, MCBN Tranquility Brown (a March 19, 2007, daughter of AUTO Dollar General 122R), consigned by Brown Land and Cattle Co., Diamond, Mo., sold to Tubmill Creek Farms, New Florence, Pa., for $30,000. --Fifty-unit semen packages for the People's Choice champion Limousin bull, MAGS Savage (a Jan. 8, 2006, son of GPFF Blaque Rulon), sold to 14 buyers for $26,250 total. Magness Land and Cattle; DJ Limousin, Port Orchard, Wash.; and Brown Land and Cattle Co. consigned him. --Half interest in the People's Choice reserve champion Lim-Flex female, AUTO Rebeca 292S (an Oct. 3, 2006, daughter of LESF Asphalt 9N out of EXLR Rebeca 1019P), consigned by Pinegar Limousin, Springfield, Mo., sold to Wies Limousin Ranch, Wellsville, Mo., for $20,000. --The People's Choice reserve champion Limousin female, TINY Sugarland (a Sept. 6, 2006, daughter of GPFF Blaque Rulon), consigned by Circle L Limousin and Land Co., Burbank, Ohio, sold to Triple T Farms, Salem, Ohio, for $17,000. Half interest in the People's Choice reserve champion Limousin bull, Schilling's Talladega, sold to Gilbert Cattle Co., Tecumseh, Okla.; Abele Cattle Co., El Dorado Springs, Mo.; Ratliff 3R Bar Ranch, Washington, Okla.; and Brian Skaggs, Lexington, Okla., for $12,000. Cash Schilling, Edson, Kan., consigned the Feb. 1, 2007, son of KRVN Naskar 013N. Half interest in the People's Choice reserve champion Lim-Flex bull, EXLR Southpaw 835S, sold to Evelynton Plantation, Charles City, Va., for $10,000. Express Ranches, Yukon, Okla., consigned the March 16, 2006, son of LESF Asphalt 9N out of EXAR Scotch Cap 1548. The People's Choice champion Lim-Flex female, LFL Tara Jo 7013T, sold to Buckhorn Creek Ranch, Sulphur, Okla., for $14,250. Lawrence Family Limousin, Anton, Texas, consigned the April 18, 2007, daughter of Basin Franchise P142 out of Alma Jo DHVO 723R. The North American Limousin Foundation hosted the sale. American Cattle Services, Chattanooga, Okla.; R&R Marketing Co., Franklin, Tenn.; and KK Seedstock Consultants, Richmond, Va., managed it. Grassroots Genetics and Consulting, Holts Summit, Mo., served as sales consultant. C.K. "Sonny" Booth, Miami, Okla., and Bruce Brooks, Marietta, Okla., were the auctioneers.
