Montana Stockgrowers attend National Western

Montana

Nestled between Christmas and calving is the National Western Stock Show, held every January in Denver. For 102 years, the National Western Stock Show has been a hub for producers across the world to gather and view top cattle genetics. "The National Western Stock Show is the perfect opportunity to network with other producers and view other breeding programs," said Ron Frye of the KG Ranch based out of Three Forks, Montana.

Many Montana seedstock producers hauled their best cattle down to the National Western Stock Show to be shown and or sold. Hereford producer Dale Venhuizen of Churchill Cattle Company commented, "The National Western Stock Show allows me the opportunity to talk to my peers and potential customers about my cattle. They see what I have to offer as a seedstock producer and view the top end cattle in the nation."

Along with many Montana cattle at the show, the Montana Stockgrowers Association set up shop in the Livestock Exchange Building at the National Western Complex and distributed the Montana Seedstock and Commercial Cattle Directory to cattle producers across the world.

Published annually, this year's 160-page, four-color publication showcases commercial feeder cattle, commercial replacement females, seedstock producers, and associated services provided by Montana ranches and businesses.

"The Montana Seedstock and Commercial Cattle Directory is the premier directory in the nation," said Darrell Stevenson, MSGA Seedstock Chairman. "Distributing copies of the directory at the National Western Stock Show gives Montana ranchers the opportunity to market their cattle on a national level and to show the world the superior cattle Montana produces."
