In-depth weed management school scheduled

Kansas

An In-Depth Weed Management School will be held in Dighton Feb. 13 at the Lane County Fairgrounds. The school focuses on two audiences: crop producers and people desiring a full day weed school. The full day offers Commercial Pesticide Applicator Recertification with four pest management hours and the core hour. CCA hours will also be offered for crop advisors. Registration begins at 9:45 a.m., for those planning on attending the full day. Crop producers are encouraged to attend lunch and the afternoon presentations on weed control in field crops.

The Walnut Creek Extension District and the following herbicide companies are sponsoring this school: DuPont, Bayer, Monsanto and BASF. Thanks to the sponsors, there is no cost to attend the school, but please register Feb. 11. Call 800-460-9079 to ensure enough food is ordered.

Featured speakers will be Dallas Peterson and David Regehr, Extension weed scientists and Sharon Dobesh, Extension Pesticide and IPM Coordinator. The topics covered include "Integrated Weed Management," "Weed Seedling Identification," "Weed Control in Field Crops," and "Pesticide Regulation, Labels and the Environment."
