High Plains slaughter news

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Jan. 27 totaled 138,823 head, compared to 164,520 head last week and 163,365 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 638 head, 1,365 to 1,450 lbs., 87.00 to 90.00 (88.66); 65 to 80% Choice, 4,165 head, 1,180 to 1,450 lbs., 88.00 to 91.50 (89.19); 35 to 65% Choice, 22,409 head, 1,125 to 1,450 lbs., 88.00 to 91.50 (90.54); 0 to 35% Choice, 2,959 head, 1,275 to 1,380 lbs., 88.50 to 91.50 (90.32).
