Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Jan. 25, 846 head of sheep and goats, compared to 826 head last week and 1,935 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to the last sale, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Heavy weight slaughter lambs were steady, light weights were $8 to $10 higher. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $5 to $10 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 30% sheep including nearly 150 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Barbados pairs, few 22.00 to 35.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice, 100 to 145 lbs., 70.00 to 85.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 110.00 to 124.00. Good, 40 to 80 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 110.00 to 124.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 115.00 to 127.00. Selection 2, 60 to 80 lbs., 105.00 to 111.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 35.00 to 45.00, few light weights 50.00 to 55.00. Angoras, 70 to 90 lbs., 22.00 to 37.00. Muttons, 80 to 120 lbs., 73.00 to 85.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, few 60 to 85 lb. nannies 98.00 to 124.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 120 lbs., 60.00 to 83.00. Selection 2, 80 to 120 lbs., 50.00 to 60.00. Pairs, 30.00 to 44.00 per head. Billies, 100 to 130 lbs., 71.00 to 98.00.
