Faith cattle sales report

The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 110 head Jan. 28, compared to 2,722 head last week and 183 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder cattle were not tested. Feeder cows were not well tested, however a higher undertone was noted. Slaughter cow trends were not applicable, however a higher undertone was noted. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. Demand was moderate to good on light receipts. The total receipts were comprised of about 50% feeder cows and 50% slaughter cows and bulls. No sale next week.

Feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 1125 to 1200 lbs., 56.50 to 61.50; middle aged to aged, 1125 to 1275 lbs., 46.00 to 51.00. Large frame 1, 1520 to 1525 lbs., 45.50 to 50.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1400 to 1625 lbs., 46.50 to 49.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 44.50 to 45.50; low dressing, 40.50 to 42.00.
