Dalhart cattle sales reportThe Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,187 head Jan. 24, compared to 1,290 head last week and 522 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were firm to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $2 higher, and instances of gaunt cows were $4 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 750-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 82% and slaughter cows and bulls 18%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 43% of the run, heifers 57%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 59%. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, two packages 252 to 280 lbs., 141.00 to 147.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 137.00 to 139.00, pre-conditioned 142.00 to 147.00; two packages 462 to 471 lbs., 119.00 to 128.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 110.00, two packages 538 to 599 lbs., 100.25 to 115.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.00 to 102.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 97.50 to 98.25; 800 to 900 lbs., 93.00 to 95.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 113.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 101.00 to 102.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 93.50 to 96.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 92.50 to 95.50. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., pre-conditioned 121.00 to 128.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 104.00 to 105.50, package 316 lbs., pre-conditioned 124.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 99.00 to 107.00, package 491 lbs., 96.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 93.00 to 96.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 90.00 to 95.00; package 772 lbs., 91.50. Medium and large frame 2, package 350 lbs., 98.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 86.50 to 87.50. Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1300 lbs., 54.25 to 54.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 50.00 to 53.50; high dressing, 54.25 to 55.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 47.50 to 50.00.
