Cattle verification, ID meetings plannedNebraska Nebraska Cattlemen will hold two meetings Feb. 11 to discuss cattle verification and identification. The first meeting will be held at the Chambers American Legion and will begin with lunch at 11:30 a.m. Speakers will begin at 12:30 p.m., and conclude at 2:30 p.m. The second meeting will be held at the Saint Michael Parish Center in Spalding, with dinner at 6 p.m., and program at 7 p.m., concluding at 9 p.m. Speakers at the meetings will include Kelly Muir with Beef Verification Solutions, who will discuss steps producers can take to increase the value of their calves. Beef Verification Solution is a member driven, confidential livestock information management program developed by Agriculture Solutions in conjunction with AgInfoLink, USA, a leading animal identification service provider in the United States. The goal of the Beef Verification Solution Program is to provide practical, farm level solutions for livestock data collection, data management and data communication. Beef Verification Solution is a one-stop shop for ISO compliant, USDA approved radio frequency identification ear tags, RFID readers and data collection software; with solutions ranging from source and age verification for animals so they can qualify for export markets, to assistance in complying with USDA's voluntary National Animal Identification System, or providing the ability to manage and analyze animal data for better decisions and increased income opportunities. Chad Barker, with National Beef, will discuss "Current and Future Export Opportunities." National Beef's majority owner, U.S. Premium Beef, empowers its rancher-owners to manage their operations more effectively and respond to customer preferences. This provides National Beef with a steady supply of high quality cattle. The aim of every National Beef supplier is to follow strict guidelines that deliver high quality cattle, providing beef your customers will want to buy again and again. Barker will also discuss what is required for fed cattle to qualify for export markets requiring age and source verification. Bill Sitz with Pfizer SelectVac Program, will discuss optional age and source verification through AgInfoLink's USDA-approved Process Verified Program giving producers more flexibility to sell calves and qualify for export verification. Todd Adams with Allflex USA Inc., will discuss how Allflex delivers animal identification systems across all production. The company has cutting-edge, practical applications of visual, electronic and radio frequency animal identification technology for livestock industries across the world, contributing to a safer global food supply. Larry Rowden with ABS Verified Beef Program, will discuss how EID tags are not required for the program so long as the cattle are traded directly from the ranch or farm of origin to a feedyard (private sale or video). Michael Kelsey, Nebraska Cattlemen executive vice president, will provide updates on national and state issues. These meetings are open to all local livestock producers and their families to learn more about source and age verification programs.
