Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Feb. 16, totaled 2,200 head, compared to 4,420 head last week and 7,900 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers were not well tested. Demand was moderate to good. Direct trading was slow with a few comparable steer sales $1 lower. Demand was moderate. Buyer inquiry was light to moderate on light offerings. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 48% of the supply, heifers 52%, with 90% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1800 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 415 to 435 lbs., 130.00 to 132.00; 500 to 575 lbs., 118.50 to 125.50; 835 lbs., 94.50. Medium frame 1, 370 lbs., 134.50. Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 310 to 385 lbs., 117.00 to 118.00; 440 to 450 lbs., 107.00 to 111.00; 530 to 550 lbs., 93.50 to 109.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 92.00 to 100.50, replacements 640 lbs., 106.50.
