Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 605 head Feb. 18, compared to 1,345 head last week, and 2,033 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, there were not enough cattle on offer for a good market test. The undertone was nearly steady for all classes. Weigh-ups were average. Demand for all classes of cattle was moderate to good. The supply included 37% steers, 41% heifers, 21% bulls and 31% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls also had a steady undertone, although there were not enough receipts for good market test. A total of 109 cows and bulls sold with 65% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 417 to 438 lbs., 124.00 to 130.00 (128.05); 14 head, 472 to 488 lbs., 115.50 to 124.00 (120.67); 6 head, 553 to 556 lbs., 116.00 to 119.00 (117.00); 666 to 694 lbs., 100.50 to 106.50 (103.80). Medium and large frame 2, 13 head, 450 to 498 lbs., 113.00 to 123.00 (117.41); 3 head, 520 to 548 lbs., 115.50 to 117.00 (115.98); 7 head, 551 to 575 lbs., 108.00 to 114.00 (111.81); 7 head, 625 to 640 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00 (105.12); 5 head, 765 to 788 lbs., 89.00 to 94.50 (93.43).

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 9 head, 442 lbs., 113.50; 8 head, 450 to 475 lbs., 116.00 to 120.00 (118.38); 5 head, 500 to 512 lbs., 119.00 to 124.00 (122.03); 5 head, 583 to 590 lbs., 108.00 to 112.00 (111.19); 8 head, 608 to 635 lbs., 98.00 to 112.00 (108.32); 7 head, 695 lbs., 97.00 to 98.00 (97.14). Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 432 lbs., 117.00; 6 head, 565 to 593 lbs., 108.00 to 110.00 (109.68).

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 308 to 345 lbs., 111.00 to 121.00 (117.17); 12 head, 425 to 448 lbs., 113.00 to 122.00 (115.90); 15 head, 455 to 482 lbs., 108.00 to 113.00 (110.24); 507 to 538 lbs., 101.00 to 108.00 (104.50). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 head, 624 lbs., 95.00. Medium and large frame 2, 12 head, 415 to 448 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00 (104.37); 7 head, 450 to 490 lbs., 93.00 to 102.00 (97.20); 10 head, 558 to 590 lbs., 91.00 to 95.50 (94.42); 9 head, 730 lbs., 91.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 7 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1350 to 1700 lbs., 51.50 to 54.50; high dressing, 56.50 to 58.00; low dressing, 46.00 to 51.50. Boners, 5 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1450 lbs., 55.50 to 56.50; high dressing, 58.50 to 59.50; low dressing, 53.50. Lean, 17 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1050 to 1150 lbs., 54.50 to 58.50; high dressing, 58.00 to 64.50; low dressing, 47.50 to 52.50. Lights, 12 head, 75 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 48.50 to 51.50; high dressing, 52.00 to 57.00; low dressing, 42.50 to 46.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 14 head, 1330 to 2165 lbs., 62.00 to 65.00; high dressing, 65.00 to 72.50; low dressing, 54.00 to 61.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 4 years old, 905 to 1245 lbs., 3 to 5 months bred, average quality, 710.00 to 825.00; 5 years old, 1000 to 1100 lbs., 5 months bred, average quality, 935.00; 9 to 10 years old, 1000 to 1100 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality, 620.00 to 700.00.
