St. Onge livestock auctionThe St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 226 head Feb. 15, compared to 1,534 head last week and 1,890 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder cattle were not well tested. Feeder cows sold mostly steady in a limited test. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady. Demand was moderate to good. Feeder steers and bulls were comprised of 25% the run, heifers 75%, with 21% over 600 pounds. Receipts included about 44% feeder cattle, 42% slaughter cows and bulls with balance mostly feeder cows and bulls. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 609 lbs., 117.50 calves. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 549 lbs., 112.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 483 lbs., 105.00. Medium frame 2, 31 head, 324 lbs., 130.00. Medium frame 2 to 3, 19 head, 261 lbs., 120.00. Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 515 to 519 lbs., 114.50 to 116.00 (115.25); 10 head, 613 lbs., 96.00. Feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, heiferettes 800 to 815 lbs., 81.00 to 87.00; 3 to 4 years old, 930 to 950 lbs., 69.00 to 72.00; young, 1050 to 1375 lbs., 56.50 to 56.00; middle aged, 1200 to 1250 lbs., 54.50 to 56.00; aged, 1075 to 1100 lbs., 52.00 to 53.50. Large frame 1, 1400 to 1450 lbs., 51.50 to 55.00, few 57.50. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1375 to 1700 lbs., 54.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 57.50 to 59.00; low dressing 51.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1025 to 1530 lbs., 51.50 to 55.50; high dressing, 56.00 to 59.50; low dressing, 47.50 to 50.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 47.50 to 51.00; high dressing, 51.50; low dressing, 43.00 to 46.50.
