South Dakota livestock salesThe South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 1,200 head Feb. 20, compared to 1,700 head last week and 1,825 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Despite the frigid temperatures, good attendance at sale. Feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $3 lower. Feeder steers made up 64% of the run, feeder heifers 36%, with 76% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 577 to 585 lbs., 124.50 to 126.25 (125.63); 12 head, 630 to 647 lbs., 111.00 to 112.00 (111.51); 6 head, 610 lbs., 120.00 fancy; 17 head, 669 to 690 lbs., 108.00 to 110.50 (109.13); 652 to 664 lbs., 112.00 to 114.00 (112.92) calves; 84 head, 745 lbs., 104.80; 771 to 781 lbs., 101.00 to 101.75 (101.18); 6 head, 816 to 843 lbs., 94.00 to 95.00 (94.51); 851 to 896 lbs., 94.20 to 95.30 (94.69); 52 head, 1011 lbs., 92.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 511 lbs., 122.00; 7 head, 795 lbs., 97.00. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 19 head, 457 lbs., 111.75; 585 to 589 lbs., 110.25 to 110.50 (110.42); 644 to 648 lbs., 102.00 to 102.75 (102.39) calves; 11 head, 692 to 694 lbs., 96.00 to 97.75 (96.96); 757 to 759 lbs., 92.75 to 94.00 (93.80); 816 to 822 lbs., 89.00 to 89.50 (89.17).
