Salina cattle auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salia, Kan., reported receipts of 4,106 head, Feb. 14, compared to 2.747 had last week and 3,094 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers at 300 to 500 pounds were $2 higher, and 550 to 950 pounds were $2 to $5 higher. Heifers at 400 to 600 pounds were $2 higher, and 650 to 900 pounds were steady to firm. Trade was very active, Demand was very good. Receipts included 83% 600 pounds and over, 16% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 62% steers and 38% heifers.
