Joplin regional cattle sales

The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 5,633 head Feb. 18, compared to 5,047 head last week and 6,765 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers under 600 pounds were steady, over 600 pounds were steady to $1 higher, and heifers were steady. Demand and supply were moderate. Several inches of rain has limited cattle movement off pastures due to high water and muddy conditions. The feeder supply included 60% steers, 37% heifers, 2% bulls, with 58% over 600 pounds.
