Dodge City livestock sales report

Receipts at Dodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., reported receipts of 3,603 head Feb. 13, compared to 1,066 head last week and 1,672 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with two weeks ago, no trend last week due to winter storm, steers 350 to 700 pounds were $5 to $10 higher, 700 to 950 pounds were $3 to $6 higher. Heifers 350 to 600 pounds were $3 to $6 higher, instances were $12 higher on 400 to 450 pounds, 600 to 950 pounds were $1 to $5 higher. Compared with last week, slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were $2 to $3 higher. Trade was moderately active and demand good. Receipts included 77% over 600 pounds, 16% under 600 pounds and 7% slaughter cows and bulls with 255 early. The feeder supply consisted of 48% steers and 52% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 55.50 to 59.50; low dressing, 49.50 to 54.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 51.50 to 57.50; high dressing 58.00 to 59.50; low dressing, 40.00 to 51.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 66.00 to 70.00; high dressing individual, 73.50; low dressing, 54.50 to 65.00.
