Dalhart livestock auction reportThe Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,515 head Feb. 14, compared to 1,136 head last week and 545 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were firm with several lots of 450- to 550-pound steers and load lots of 650- to 800-pound steers that sold $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were firm to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 80% and slaughter cows and bulls 20%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 65% of the run, heifers 35%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 33%. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 143.00 to 151.00, two packages 371 to 377 lbs., 135.00 to 139.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 135.00 to 140.00, pre-conditioned 142.00 to 146.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 122.00 to 127.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.00 to 110.50, load 638 lbs., 114.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 102.50 to 104.85. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 200 to 300 lbs., 136.00 to 142.50; few 300 to 400 lbs., 130.00 to 136.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 127.00 to 133.00, lot 439 lbs., thin 135.00; two packages 512 to 557 lbs., 109.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.50 to 103.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 101.00 to 101.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 50.00 to 55.50; high dressing, 57.00 to 57.50; low dressing, 45.50 to 49.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 49.00 to 54.00; low dressing, 45.50 to 47.50. Dairy slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1700 to 1900 lbs., 55.00 to 55.50.
