Amarillo livestock sales

The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 543 head Feb. 19, compared to 844 head last week and 1,094 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady on a light test. The supply showed more desirable quality. Slaughter cows were steady on a light test. There was no test on slaughter bulls. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate. Feeder cattle accounted for 96% and slaughter cows and bulls 4% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 41% of the run, heifers 59%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 67%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 460 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 130.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 114.00 to 120.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 111.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 99.50 to 105.00; 800 to 860 lbs., 97.50 to 99.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 350 lbs., 110.00 to 117.00; package 415 lbs., 123.00, package 497 lbs., fleshy 105.00; two packages 502 to 587 lbs., 111.00 to 114.00. Small and medium frame 3 to 4, package 448 lbs., 57.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600 to 660 lbs., 95.00 to 98.00; package 793 lbs., 89.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 104.00 to 107.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 99.00 to 105.00, package 555 lbs., fleshy 95.50; 600 to 625 lbs., 98.50 to 100.00; 700 to 730 lbs., 95.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 265 lbs., 110.00; 350 to 370 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00; package 494 lbs., 101.50; two packages 530 to 570 lbs., 95.00 to 96.00; package 645 lbs., 90.00; string 753 lbs., 94.75.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 54.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 50.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 47.00 to 48.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 40.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1600 to 1700 lbs., 67.00.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred 740.00 to 890.00 per head; aged, 1135 lbs., 8 months bred 460.00 per head. Small and medium frame 3 to 4, Longhorn, middle aged to aged, 700 to 900 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred 410.00 to 450.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 1000 lbs., with 350-lb. calf, 860.00 per pair; aged, 1025 lbs., with 200-lb. calf, 710.00 per pair.
