West Plains regional sales

The Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 950 head Feb. 12, compared to 1,669 head last week and 1,495 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service.

Compared to last week, too few in most classes and weight ranges for an adequate price comparison. However, a few comparable steers 450 to 550 pounds were $2 to $4 higher, other weights were steady. Heifers under 600 pounds were steady to $3 higher, over 600 pounds were mostly steady. Prices that didn't reach last week's tops was mainly because those kinds of cattle weren't in town this week. The supply was very light. Demand was good, even though buyers didn't get too many chances to roll up their sleeves and go to work. The feeder supply consisted of 46% steers, 6% bulls and 48% heifers, with nearly 54% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 130.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 119.00 to 132.50, lot 14 head 522 lbs., fancy 132.50; 550 to 600 lbs., 107.50 to 118.00, small package 580 lbs., thin 127.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 101.00 to 109.50; load 745 lbs., 98.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, small package 316 lbs., thin 138.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 114.00 to 129.00; package 538 lbs., 117.50; 550 to 600 lbs., 104.00 to 108.08, package 554 lbs., thin 117.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 96.00 to 103.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 92.00 to 96.75, small package fleshy 772 lbs., 91.50; lot 899 lbs., 90.50. Medium and large frame 2, package 375 lbs., 125.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 113.00 to 117.50, package 425 lbs., thin 124.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 110.00; couple packages 600 to 660 lbs., 97.00 to 101.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1 , 400 to 500 lbs., 110.50 to 120.00, couple small packages fleshy 105.00 to 108.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 108.00; 600 to 620 lbs., 98.00 to 101.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 110.50 to 114.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 107.00 to 112.50, lot 416 lbs., thin 115.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 101.50 to 110.50; 550 to 600 lbs., 96.00 to 100.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 92.00 to 100.00; part to load 715 lbs., 92.75, small package 773 lbs., 90.50; 820 to 830 lbs., fleshy 85.00 to 89.25. Medium and large frame 2, couple packages 436 to 486 lbs., 104.00 to 106.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 93.00 to 103.00; few 600 to 650 lbs., 94.00; couple small packages 646 lbs., fleshy and 680 lbs., 88.00.
