The Many Faces of Agritourism Workshop Feb. 27Kansas Feb. 27, starting at 6:30 p.m., Russell and Ellis County Extension are hosting an Agritourism Workshop at the Gorham Senior Center. The presenter for the evening will be Ben Allen. Several years ago Allen took a sabbatical from his job as the Extension agent in Chautauqua County and worked with the Kansas Department of Commerce as an agritourism advisor. He has spoken and met one on one with many folks across Kansas sharing his ideas and experiences of the agritourism industry. Allen will be on hand to listen to your ideas and questions and share with you some of the success stories he has seen and been involved in. Although most people in this area think of it as lease hunting and fishing, agritourism is so much more. We have come to take for granted the wide open spaces, clear star filled skies and unimpeded sunsets that we can actually see from our porches. Our resources in Kansas are many and appealing to folks looking for a get-away from the hustle and bustle. How do we market and sell these opportunities? If you have a hobby or skill that others would be willing to pay to learn or if you make a product that outsiders would be willing to buy, this is a workshop you won't want to miss. Bring your thoughts, ideas and questions for an evening of discussion on how you might succeed in agritourism. 2/18/08 Date: 2/14/08
