St. Onge livestock auction reportThe St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 1,534 head Feb. 8, compared to 469 head last week and 714 head last year, according to the Compared to last week, feeder cattle trends are not applicable due to no comparable sale available, however a higher undertone was noted. Feeder cows sold steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady to $3 higher, except Breakers sold $5 to $6 higher. Slaughter bulls sold $3 to $5 higher in a limited test. Demand is good on all classes. Feeder steers were comprised of 61% of the run, heifers 39%, with 53% over 600 pounds. Receipts included about 73% feeder cattle, 3% slaughter cows and bulls with balance mostly feeder cows and bulls. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 375 to 381 lbs., 135.00 to 138.00 (135.81); 424 to 442 lbs., 135.00 to 136.00 (135.82); 475 to 499 lbs., 129.00 to 135.00 (133.08); 532 to 543 lbs., 127.00 to 128.00 (127.25); 559 to 596 lbs., 118.00 to 120.25 (120.09); 605 to 642 lbs., 114.50 to 121.75 (120.18) calves; 700 to 744 lbs., 103.00 to 108.50 (106.33) calves; 825 to 840 lbs., 95.00 to 96.25 (96.12); 5 head, 866 lbs., 95.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 558 to 588 lbs., 111.50 to 117.00 (116.23); 668 to 685 lbs., 102.50 to 108.75 (105.40) calves; 23 head, 798 lbs., 95.00 calves.
