Sioux Falls sheep sales reportThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 942 head Feb. 11, compared to 388 head last week and 783 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, not enough comparable sales for an accurate market trend on all classes of sheep, however a steady undertone was noted. Demand was good to very good with a notable increase on demand for light weight slaughter lambs. Receipts were nearly 45% slaughter lambs, 25% slaughter ewes, 18% feeder lambs and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep. Slaughter lambs: Shorn, Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 46 head, 138 lbs., 90.25. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 115 to 129 lbs., 87.00 to 89.25 (88.67); 135 to 146 lbs., 87.50 to 88.75 (88.02). Wooled, Good and Choice 2 to 3, 10 head, 48 lbs., 140.00; 12 head, 61 lbs., 125.50; 83 to 88 lbs., 115.50 to 121.50 (117.32); 43 head, 90 lbs., 112.50. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 15 head, 136 to 153 lbs., 42.00 to 45.00 (44.15); 169 to 184 lbs., 38.50 to 42.00 (40.44). Good 3 to 4, 17 head, 183 to 199 lbs., 25.00 to 29.00 (27.51). Utility 1 to 2, 109 to 158 lbs., 26.50 to 33.00 (28.58); 160 to 171 lbs., 28.25 to 32.00 (29.36). Cull 1, 124 to 137 lbs., 17.50 to 21.00 (20.44).
