New AgriLife Extension agent named to Schleicher, Irion counties postTexas Courtney Barbee has been named Texas AgriLife Extension Service's family and consumer sciences agent for Schleicher and Irion counties. The joint announcement was made by Schleicher County Judge, Johnny Griffin, Irion County Judge, Leon Standard and Scott Durham, AgriLife Extension administrator at San Angelo. "We are very pleased to have Courtney join us here in the West Central District," Durham said. "She has a solid background in teaching family and consumer sciences that will be a strong asset to the counties she is to serve--and to the district." She grew up in Brownwood where she was active in the 4-H program. She also has family in the area, so she is well acquainted with the region, according to Durham. Barbee holds a bachelor's degree in human sciences from Tarleton State University at Stephenville. Prior to joining AgriLife Extension, Barbee taught family and consumer sciences in the Clear Creek Independent School District at League City. Before that, she worked as a home- and community -based specialist and service coordinator for Johnson-Ellis-Navarro Mental Health and Mental Retardation at Cleburne. She also taught family and consumer sciences for the Alvin Independent School District at Alvin. 2/18/08 Date: 2/14/08
