Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Feb. 8, reported receipts of 1,981 head, compared to 1,415 head last week and 2,072 head last year, according to the USDA-Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Heavy weight slaughter lambs were steady, light weights were $10 to $15 higher. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $10 to $15 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 500 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper pairs, few 32.00 to 45.00 per head. Dorper bucks, 100.00 to 125.00 per head. Barbados ewes, few 80 lbs., 59.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 240.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice, 100 to 140 lbs., 80.00 to 86.00. Prime 2 to 3, few 90 lbs., 100.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 121.00 to 150.00, few to 153.00. Good, 40 to 80 lbs., 109.00 to 115.00.

Slaughter ewes: Cull, thin/very thin, 100 to 110 lbs., 30.00 to 31.00.

Slaughter bucks: 150 to 230 lbs., 32.00 to 36.00.

Barbados lambs: 15 to 40 lbs., 128.00 to 142.00; ewes, 70 to 90 lbs., 38.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 25 to 40 lbs., 128.00 to 148.00, 40 to 60 lbs., 130.00 to 148.00, few to 150.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 130.00 to 140.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 120.00 to 130.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 105.00 to 116.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 140 lbs., 35.00 to 46.00. Billies, 90 to 230 lbs., 78.00 to 90.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 80 to 125 lbs., 77.50 to 95.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 60.00 to 80.00. Pairs, 26.00 to 40.00 per head. Billies, 140 to 230 lbs., 90.00 to 100.00.
