Amarillo livestock sales report

The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 844 head Feb. 12, compared to 221 head last week and 1,022 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, no adequate price trend comparison was available due to limited receipts last week. Slaughter cows were steady on a light test. Limited test on slaughter bulls. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate. Feeder cattle accounted for 93% and slaughter cows and bulls 7% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 58% of the run, heifers 42% steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 55%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 320 lbs., 132.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 125.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 107.00 to 116.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 111.50, calves 95.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 99.00 to 104.00; package 805 lbs., fleshy 90.00, 860 to 900 lbs., 92.00 to 94.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 235 lbs., 132.00; 355 to 400 lbs., 114.00 to 116.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 119.00; 545 to 600 lbs., 112.00 to 114.00; lot 665 lbs., 103.00, package 640 lb. calves 93.00; lot 755 lbs., 93.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 431 lbs., 120.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 95.00 to 111.00; 600 to 610 lbs., 98.00 to 105.00, package 682 lbs., 89.00; package 742 lbs., 90.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 114.00 to 118.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 104.00 to 113.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 99.00 to 105.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 93.00 to 100.00, calves 90.00, package 692 lbs., full 90.00; 745 to 755 lbs., 91.00 to 93.00; package 861 lbs., 84.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 93.50 to 100.00; 675 to 685 lbs., fleshy 88.00 to 89.00; package 705 lbs., 88.00; package 800 lbs., 85.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 50.00 to 52.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 49.50 to 52.75; high dressing, 55.00; 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 51.00 to 54.00; low dressing, 47.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 45.00 to 49.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 38.50 to 43.00; low dressing, 37.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1700 to 2000 lbs., 63.00 to 64.25.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 900 to 965 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, 610.00 to 790.00 per head, 1100 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, 920.00 per head; middle-aged, 975 to 1465 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, 690.00 to 810.00 per head; aged, 930 to 1375 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, 550.00 to 650.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged 900 lbs., with 100-lb calves, 780.00 per pair.
