Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Feb. 2, totaled 3,800 head, compared to 3,475 head last week and 6,700 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market New, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to the light test last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $3 higher, instances were $4 to $8 higher. Demand was moderate to good. Direct trading was slow with few comparable steers and heifers steady to $2 higher. Demand was moderate. Buyer inquiry was light to moderate on light offerings. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 58% of the supply, heifers 42%, with 58% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 935 head of the total receipts.
