Working Dog Clinic new to Expo events

New Mexico

New to this year's Ag Expo is a Working Dog Clinic by Orin Barnes, from Canyon, Texas. Barnes has been training stock dogs since 1965 and has won more than 20 Dog-of-the-Year titles across the United States. In 2001, Barnes was named Reserve Champion at the Texas Cow Dog Finals.

Barnes takes pride in his abilities as a stock dog clinician and breeder and has put on trials for the Kent (Evergreen) Feeds. He's excited to share some of his ideas at this year's Ag Expo and will be providing hands on training to 10 dog owners and their dogs free of charge. The clinic will be on a first come, first serve basis so if you own a stock dog and need additional help training or fine tuning your canine assistant, act now. His demonstrations will take place Feb. 27, at 10 a.m., and 1:30 p.m., in the Show Arena.

This year's Expo is being sponsored by Farmer's Paxton Insurance and Plateau Wireless and will reach thousands of dairymen, ranchers, and farmers. There will be agricultural booths showcasing the latest technological and industrial advances, along with other booths featuring jewelry, clothing, and crafts.

Again this year, Expo attendees have the opportunity to win a brand new 16-foot stock trailer. Registration for the drawing will be available at the show and the winner must be at least 18 years old. There is no admission charge to the show.

For more information on the Working Dog Clinics, contact Kinsey Barker at 800-635-8036 or e-mail the Expo at events@portales.com.
