Tulia livestock auction reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,704 head Feb 4, compared to 2,729 head last week and 1,096 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News to USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to the last sale three weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $4 higher, with instances $5 to $6 higher on 600- to 700-pound steers. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $3 higher. Trade was moderate to active and demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 750-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 97% and slaughter cows and bulls 3% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 72% of the run, heifers 28%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 70%.
