Sample recipient of Missouri Farmers Union scholarship

Missouri

Tracy Sample of Annapolis, Mo., was awarded the Gary Wiggins Memorial Scholarship from Missouri Farmers Union at their annual convention in Moberly, Jan. 25. Tracy is a sophomore at the University of Missouri-Columbia, majoring in Agricultural Education.

"Tracy represents a bright future for Missouri rural communities and agriculture," said MFU President Russ Kremer. "MFU is very proud to present her with the Gary Wiggins scholarship, and is pleased to announce that in 2008 the scholarship amount was increased to $1,000."

The scholarship is presented annually through an application process to a young person attending a 2- or 4-year college with plans to enter production agriculture and serve Missouri rural communities after graduation. The scholarship is presented in memory of Gary Wiggins, a former legislator and rural advocate.

"Gary Wiggins was a visionary, a leader and person deeply committed to the improvement of Missouri rural communities and family farms," said MFU President, Russ Kremer. "We will be looking to the recipients of this scholarship to provide leadership in his community, production agriculture and to MFU."

Missouri Farmers Union's mission is to protect and enhance the economic interests and way of life of family farmers and ranchers and the rural communities they represent. For more information or to join, go to www.missourifarmersunion.org.
