Salina cattle auction reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,131 head Jan. 31, compared to 3,770 head last week and 3,169 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, 300- to 750-pound steers were $3 to $6 higher, and those at 750 to 950 pounds were firm to $2 higher. Heifers at 300 to 600 pounds were $3 to $5 higher, and 600 to 850 pounds were firm to mostly $3 higher. Trade was active, demand was good. Receipts included 83% 600 pounds and over, 16% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 74% steers and 26% heifers.
