Lexington business destroyed by fire

LEXINGTON, Neb. (AP)--A Lexington business that sells, repairs and rebuilds farm equipment was destroyed in an early January fire.

Lexington Fire Chief Bo Berry said the fire at Bill's Volume Sales destroyed the repair facility and its contents, along with five pieces of farm equipment. He said monetary damage will likely be near $1 million.

The State Fire Marshal was investigating the cause, but Berry said the fire was likely started by a cutting spark that burned late Jan. 4 to Jan. 5.

Bill's employees arriving for work about 8 a.m., Jan. 5 discovered the flames and tried to put the fire out. Berry said one worker suffered a minor burn to the wrist.
