Joplin cattle market reportThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 5,500 head Feb. 4, compared to 6,100 head last week and 5,444 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold $2 to $4 higher. Demand was very good for thin or fancy under 600 pounds with some selling $5 to $8 higher. The supply was moderate. The supply included 66% steers, 30% heifers, 3% bulls and 50% of the cattle weighed over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 131.00 to 145.00;400 to 500 lbs., 124.00 to 132.00, thin or fancy 135.00 to 141.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 120.00, thin 122.50 to 126.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 110.00, thin or fancy 109.50 to 114.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 96.00 to 103.50, fancy 700 to 720 lbs., 104.00 to 105.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 93.00 to 98.25; 2 loads 950 lbs., 91.35; lot 998 lbs., 90.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 118.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 101.00 to 107.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 92.00 to 99.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 94.50 to 95.50. Large frame 1, 580 to 670 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00; 700 to 900 lbs., 92.00 to 97.25. Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 975 to 995 lbs., 62.00 to 63.00.
